Front Speakers to pair with BV10

    Folks,

Following instruction from SWMBO, I am talking to my dealer re upgrading our main room a/v.

    We currently have a BV3 with BL8000 fronts, BL6000 rear and a BL2.

We will be moving to a BV10 set up and I am keen to make sure I get the speaker choice correct as there will be wall chasing to do for the BV10 so I may as well get it all sorted at once.

The room is not large (14' x 14' roughly) so filling with sound is not a problem, I am just minded of the shortcomings on sound imposed by the laws of physics on the BV10 so would like to ensure I minimise the issue.

So, the question, would I be better off with the BL8000 as the fronts or trading them in for BL3s?  Would BL9 be overkill?

Thanks to all that respond.  (PS - Anyone interested in a BV3 32" c/w ML / STB Controller / RF Mon and 5.1 card???)

I think you have the perfect match !

    BV10 suits very well with BL8000 & BL6000.

On top of that, the speakers in the BV10 don't get the acoustic lens so the sound with your speakers could be more consistent.

And, in terms of design, it's pure B&O class ! Yes - thumbs up

Take the white cover for the BV10 and change the covers of your BeoLabs in white too ! Embarrassed

Design and sound of the Beolab 8000, Beolab 6000 and Beovision 10 should match nicely, I reckon. I will get a Beovision 10 at some point in the future. I have Beolab 3's at the moment, which I prefer over the Beolab 8000 sonically. I might get a pair of 8000's too match my future TV and move the Beolab 3's to a different room.

I think the BL 6000 matches the BV 10 the best, followed by the BL 8000. The new UK catalog shows floorstand and wall-mounted BV 10's with BL 6000's and it looks phenomenal.  Mine will be paired with a BL 9 for the sound, since it will also serve as my main music system. Won't look quite as good, but soundwise should be fine, since the BV 10 will only be used as center channel! You can't go wrong with the 6000 or 8000.

    Yeah,

Leo and Beocool are right !

If the BV10 will be wall mounted, you could get the new wallbrackets for the 8000 !

Stunning ! Yes - thumbs up

    Steph,

I must admit I like the idea of the wall brackets more than the white trim - would look great in a modern pad but not sure about a C19 English stone cottage!

One thing I did not mention, although the TV will be wall mounted, because of the room / door layout, the front speakers will not be equally spaced to either the TV nor the main viewing position.  This was why I wondered whether the acoustic lens design of the BL3 / BL9 would help (asthetics of the BL8 to one side for a moment!)

I think that BL8000 and 6000 do fit well. My wife and myself did chose the 8000 because we like the design and soundwise the 8000 sound better to me than the 6000.

    Simon,

I would strongly advice you to (re)consider the BL9's seriously in your proposed set-up. I had a pair of BL8000 Mk3 which i have traded in for the 9's a few months ago. Extensive listening learned me that the sonic difference between them is substantial in favor of the 9's. ALT technology gives an impressive sound picture and spreading. Unfortunately, so is the difference in price, but I am convinced it's fully worth the extra investment. Personally I also like the design very much!

    Good luck,

    Johan

    Johan,

Do the BL9's need the BL2 sub or would they replace that also.  If they can, then by the time I have re-homed a pair of BL8 and a BL2, the cost to change will probably not be too bad?

Front speakers for BeoVision 10 on the wall? Get BeoLab 5000! They match perfectly in height & depth, and they are flat in design, that really shows B&O were 20 years ahead of their time when they introduced those, and I still don't understand why they haven't released a new flat panel BeoLab to match BeoVisions, now that they are all flat and wall mountable..Come on, Struer, do something!!

Re: Front Speakers to pair with BV10

With the 8000's I regularly felt the need for an additional sub (BL2). Now having the 9's, that feeling disappeared completely! However that's all very personal. I have to say I'am in a very favourite position as my nephew is a B&O dealer in Holland, meaning I am able to test more or less any B&O kit I would like. During the last year I had the BL 8000, 3, 9 and 5's for a personal review in our average sized appartment. Speaking in terms of best value for money, as far as the actual range of Beolab speakers is concerned, my personal preference are the 9's. So I went for the 9's and I really enjoy them ever since.

I agree with Chrisreunion, BeoLab 5000 is the perfect math and a great speaker. I also hope for a new flat speaker. With todays development in technology it should be possible.

If I was buying a BV10 I would definitely get some Beolab 5000s to go with it. Has anyone done this? I'd love to see the results!

I can see the point but you will need quite an expanse of wall! Laughing Given my 5000s away so can't comment!

Yes, Peter is quite right, they do need some space, especially in conjunction with a BV10 on the same wall. I don't have my Lab 5000's paired to a BV10, or any other flat screen for that matter. But I'm sure that the combination would be absolutely great.
