They're going to arrive in 48 hours .....

Thinking back I still can remember the first time I've heard them....

Now, almost 6 1/2 years later, its just only 48 hours until they will appear in my living room...

Goodbye my loved 8000s, goodbye Lab2 ... something big & powerful is on its way...

I hope it will be as mind-blowing as it was 6 years ago...

    I can't await ....

I'd strongly suggest buying a few bottles of wine for your neighbours.. as an apology.

@9Lee: I really was thinking about that wine-thing for the neighbours, or a sign: "Serious testing in progress.. Do not disturb!"

I wasn't that nervous for a long time...

Will post some pictures if I can hold the camera still ....

A little tip.  Calibrate them in a very large room if you can, then move them to your lounge.. Devil

Kevin's obviously way too cultured.. Wink

I suggest doing what we first did at LifeStyle AV.  Turning them up so loud they visibly moved the front of our trousers, then made objects shuffle across shelves with the vibrations.

Lee, you are all too kind!  My BL8000 can vibrate a 300lb dining table, so I can imagine what the BL5 can do at the LifeStyle AV.  Just be sure your trousers are not too tight!  Laughing

@ evman: I've read it the 21 time after my post :-)

Hope this will be not too hard to drag those to the second floor by myself...

I just feel bad about my front 8000s and the sub, every time I'm thinking about selling something from B&O, I spend the double amount of time thinking of ways to justify to keep the stuff ....

I think the guest toilet and the kitchen are not B&O equipped, hmmmmmmm :-)

Around 10 hours from now on, and I cannot sleep ....

Ouverture would be nice but my 9000 will NEVER leave my livingroom as this started my collection and the whole B&O thing...

Truely a B&O icon in my point of view and I'm still stunned of the quality.

I never experienced any issues besides a swap of the CD drive unit due to a dusty/old lens..

Re: They're going to arrive in 48 hours .....

Well, as someone who's been involved in music and this 'hobby' for nigh on forty years, the Lab 5's are some of the, if not THE very best loudspeaker I've ever heard, and I've heard more than a few.

Certainly they are my personal reference and dream speaker, so I definitely understand and 'share' your excitement.

On a slight side note, could you provide a link to the review you mention by any chance - I have a couple of the net, but they're not easy to come by so would appreciated reading some more reviews of them if they're available.

    Many thanks and Congratulations

    Kind Regards

    John

    No-one ever regretted buying quality.

The other day I sat down to enjoy the Beatles remaster of "Abbey Road" on my BeoLab 5s. I was enthralled - and actually had tears in the corner of my eye after several of the songs. Wonderful music through wonderful speakers.

Do your utmost to place them so that they can engage the side walls to throw reflections to you, that's what the accoustic lens is for!

You'll find the review through the Main Site link above, Beoboiinoz, in the Products section.

    Cheers!

Congratulation, you just got the TOP of the line from B&O, in term of active loudspeakers.

    Those beauties are such incredible.

Still testing and experimenting with the Lab 5s.

One thing you have to be aware of is that they are very very analytical.

If a CD is recorded bad, it sounds bad. If MP3 isn't ripped correctly (Lossless) you miss a lot of the spectrum, if a CD is recorded and produced very good, it instantly puts a smile on your face.

    CDs tested so far:

    1. Robert Manos "Angel Road" - Killer in bass, especially the song "Mombasa" went to 80 in volume and the bass feels like an earthquake. Check this song out if you own a pair of Lab 5s (iTunes has it)

    2. The Mars Volta "Frances the Mute" - One of my favorite Albums of one of my favorite bands. Sounds ok but could have been better recorded, an improvement from my 8000s/Lab2 but not much.

    3. Tool "10000 Days" - disappointed me for being badly recorded in my new Beolab 5 opinion. :-(

    4. Clint Mansell Soundtrack to "The Fountain" - THIS IS IT! Besides the beautiful soundtrack itself, the CD is very good and dynamical produced and the 5s could really show their capabilities.. If you read this, get the soundtrack, its worth every penny!

    5. Lord of the Rings Soundtracks 1-3 - Beolab 5 is really excellent in playing classical music at high volumes as those speakers deliver everything from crystal clear heights to the deepest bass without any distortion and/or stress

    6. Tested a movie as well, Star Wars Episode 2, the scene where Obi Wan flies through the asteroid field and Fett drops the seismic charges and the asteroids explode.... HOLY S**T! ... you can literally SEE the bass moving from left to right and all windows start waving white flags :-) LOVE IT!

    More to come...

In general the Lab 5s tend to sound very good on high volumes 60 and up, I'm still missing some bass below the 40 mark but with a little calibration tweaking the surely deliver that as well....

I do not regret a single Euro I've paid for them and I'm just at the beginning :-)
