    Beocom 5 pics!

I thought I'd share from the new North American Catalog which I picked up this afternoon at my dealer (along with a peak at the BeoTime that they got in yesterday.)

I like the product very much.

But what really gets me is the marketing approach. Common B&O...you were using "the Torture-chamber" approach 15 years ago! Cant you think of a better way to market your products. Wake-Up for pity-sake!

Thanks for sharing Michael, did your dealer give an E.T.A for the Beocom5?

My misses will love that and i'll probably end up hating it because she will always be on it. Anyone know how much these will cost in English pounds?

My dealer said that the whole package would be about 1K USD for base, speaker and handset.

The hope was around Christmas... but that was a BIG hope.

I believe Trip had said as much on a previous thread.

It's also unfortunate that in the North American market our previous Beocom 1 (Beocom6000) are not technically Dect and thus cannot share the same Beoline or address book.Storm

Thanks for the pics Michael.  I got a Beotime about 3 days ago and really like it.  It is really unique.  However, the Beocom 5 almost looks like a cellphone.

    ouch to price

not sure I like the look of the handset - I am sure the feel will be much better

oh well I will probably still get it for its speaker phone capability

and as long as it integrates with the BeoCom 6000 and the BeoTalk 1100

First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*

Should be here for Christmas and priced just below the Beocom 2. Around £600. Doesn't really grab me but certainly fills a gap.

When I saw the first blurry pictures I didn't like the Beocom 5 at all. Usually it stays that way when I see better pictures or the real thing. In this case I have to admit I was wrong. Embarrassed I rather like it! Yes - thumbs up

    B&O "Common". Hardly!

Agree about the 'Torture Chamber" though. Give that up B&O.

As has been commented also, it does look bit like a mobile phone.

I'm thinking about getting one for the office - but £600 is at the absolute top end of a price I'd pay for a phone. It's nice, but isn't superb. You're right Peter.

I am right in saying it's primarily an office phone? The look and the conference speaker give me that impression. I don't think it would look right in the home.

Well, looking at the base unit the speaker quality should be excellant...could be tempted.

Agree this is more office than home.

I would agree that office phone would be an obvious use. Also for those working from home of course. I suppose what would make it even more attractive for me would be the ability to use it as a two line phone but still have Beocom 6000s and 2s working on one of the lines as normal. As it is, I plan to stick with my present set up.

Oops. One boob - B&O have released their cataglogue, promoting www.bang-olufsen.com/beocom5 and the URL doesnt' exist. No mention of the phone on the website either.

    Slight PR error there.

I have now Jacob Jensen Telephone 80, but I am disapointed because it is so plasticNo - thumbs down

    Re: Beocom 5 pics!

Had a chance of playing with one yesterday... Concerning the "plastic"... the BeoCom 6000 feels much more plastic then the BeoCom5... it has the typical "softtouch" feel on the back... the display is stunning.. very bright if it has to; dimmed at other times.

The race for quality has no finish line- so technically, it's more like a death march.

Agree - it feels very nice and very light. If I was starting again I would certainly consider one.
