avant surround sound with non b&o

Hi everyone, new to the forums.

I would like to connect by Avant 32 dvd, to a cyrus3 preamp/amp powering passive tdl's for my front surround speakers. few questions though,

    http://www.cyrusaudio.com/product.asp?ProductID=60&text=spec

    1 - is it possible?

    2 - is it as easy as connecting 2 rca's to 2 din's?

3 - what are the pinouts? (12 and 3 from soldering side?)

At the moment, I just use the 3.5mm stereo jack to connect the speakers, and I just want to upgrade this setup to surround. Havnt got the space to put beolab 1's or 8000 which is what I really want, but you cant have it all.

    Many thanks in advance.

    Guv

The Powerlink sockets have both left and right speaker output in each plug so you need a Powerlink to RCA adaptor. I would feed this to the power amplifier and bypass the pre-amp as you will be able to control the volume from the Avant then. The wiring diagrams are www.Beotech.co.uk .

    Best of luck!

I've found with my Avant (old 50hz) that powerlink output is not at line RCA level so volume levels are low.

Generally speaking, you aren't learning much if your lips are moving.

ok guys, thanks for the reply's, bit of an update and a further question.

I made 2 cables, both are rca - 7pin din (fits nice in the powerlink socket) fired it all up, and it works like a dream. They act as front left and right speakers.

I can control the volume, works fine. Im not sure if its line level or not, but if i leave the amp at 40%, all is sweet. (only a teenie bit higher than i would leave it using a cyrus cd player or my naka cassette)

ok, if i wanted to add rear speakers, what would the pinouts be? would they be the same? i cant find the pinouts that are specifically for rear speakers

I know ,I know... unfortunately the priority has been pouring (and paying for) concrete on which to put the kids pool..... 32 degrees here so worthwhile I'm sure you'll agree.Cool
