    B&O 9000 MkII or MkIII

Hi all, Im new to the site & would like some help if possible.

Im planning on buying the B&O 9000 but Im not sure whether to get the MkII or MkIII, I have heard conflicting reports about which model has which features so would like those that know better to advise if possible?

My understanding from various sources is that the MkII doesnt have the pin code on it but the MkIII does & also the MkIII has a different CD unit to the MkII.

Im sure it has other differences but from a security point of view Im angled towards the MkIII

Any help & advice would be greatly appreciated :)

Early MK3's did not yet have the pin code. I guess the biggest difference is the n.radio option?

Thanks for that bayerische so I would be right in assuming that the MkII DOESNT have the pin code regardless of manufacture date?

I would go for MKIII modell, as this model has a better laser unit ans software, NetMusic & NetRadio function via BeoPort, and also Pin code.

I second that, the newer the better.

However the  MKII is most likely cheaper than a MKIII. If you don't plan to use N.RADIO and N.MUSIC via BeoPort, and if security isn't important, then I see no reason not to buy the MKII. To my knowledge there isn't any difference in sound between the two models, but the MKIII should be more reliable.

I have no experience from the earlier ones, but as always, it feels good to have the latest version.

The only noticeable difference is the red power button on the MKII as opposed to being concealed on the MKIII.  Software can be updated, N.MUSIC isn't exclusive to the MKIII.  Properly cleaned and maintained, there are no reliability issues with the MKII and MKIII models are often sold at a premium.

    What red power button?

Where is it located on the mk2?

If you are looking at the unit from the front, on the left-hand side, two inches from the bottom

Hmmm, I'm not so sure I'm following you :D

I have a power button with a red dot on it, it's exactly the same as the disc-buttons.

Think big red plastic button, about 1,5 cm high sticking out of the top to the left, when it is placed horizontally like this:

Ahhh, I'm stupid, I better admit it... Didn't notice you guys where talking about the MK2 big-red-power-button... Oh yeah, now I remember the red button. I don't have it on mine though. The MK3 has the power button below CD button nr 6, or under the flip-up-cover control panel.

    Sorry about that.

So does MK1 and MK2 too! But they also have this big red main power switch.
