Will Beolab 5 speakers put out any sound with Mk3 powerlink cables?

     Hi,

I upgraded my Beolab 1 speakers with Beolab 5 speakers yesterday Big Smile but wasn't able to get out any sound yet (although the green light is on when I start the system).  I am using powerlink mk3 cables at the moment but from the info I found on this forum it seems that only mk2 cables will work?  Do you normally get any sound at all with mk3 cables?

Additionally I am using the DTS box to mix in the subwoofer signal.  Will the cable from my beosystem 1 to the dts box also need to be replaced with a mk2 cable?

    Thank you.

    Congrats!

The Lab 5 is a wonder in sound!

As far as I know you need the MK2 PL cable.

MK3 cables will give no sound - so they must be working correctly!

    That's a relief thank you.

Does the cable from the beosystem 1 to the DTS box need to be mk2 too?  I assume so but I wanted to check.

    Thank you for the help.

Always use mark 2 Powerlink cables for Beolab 5 (or for any speakers with displays, eg. Pentas).  Whereas the Pentas will work on mark 3 cables without the displays, the 'Lab 5 will do nothing (except show a misleading green light!)  You can't normally go wrong with mark 2 cables, I know Lee at LifeStyle AV always stocks these out of preference, as they will work in any situation.

Sorry for harping on about cables, but it is worth getting these right to make the most of your investment when buying such a powerful and capable speaker as the Five.

    Best regards,

    Steve.

You must use MK2 cables end-to-end...and 'break' in the change will shut down the 5's.

    We kid because we love.
