How to clean the BL8000 black "stand"

    Hello,

I have some difficulty to have my BL8000's stands cleaned. In fact, dust is getting in the black stands and tends to solidify.

I have tried to clean them using a hot humid sponge, but after an hour, a white calcareous layer appears on the surface. It is very hard to remove that.

Do you think that applying a wet sponge with demineralized water will do the trick.

    Thanks for your help !

    Cheers,

    Guy

Try mixing in a little lemon juice or carbonated water. The slight amount of citric or carbonic acid may break up the calcium deposits.

It's going to sound odd, but tire-shine does very well cleaning them and restoring them to their obsidian luster as though fresh from the box. I keep one of the little squeezey ones with the built-in sponge in the store at all times.

    Thanks for your advice.

According to the tire-shine solution, will it break the calcium deposit as if we were using carbonated water ?

In my experience it does, though I've only dealt with mild deposits. If not, maybe try a solution to remove calcium deposits and then do the tire shine to bring out luster.

Re: How to clean the BL8000 black "stand"

When we get BeoLab 8000's like this we detach them from the speaker, clean and scrub them in hot soapy water, rough them up with wire wool then re-spray them with satin black car bumper paint.  We use bumper paint as it's slightly rubberised, can take knocks, and never flakes off.

If i was looking to restore the lustre on original unpainted ones, use silicone dressing spray heavily then leave it to soak in overnight. Buff off with a microfiber the next morning and they'll look fine.
