    £500 for an LE6000 ??!!

Yes, strange but true - that's the upcoming campaign Bang & Olufsen UK are launching with their dealers.  I heard it yesterday!

They are offering a minimum of £500 for any Bang & Olufsen CRT Television as long as it's working and has a fully functional remote, and the only TV that it doesn't apply to is the BV8-26" (i can only assume there's no profit in them?)

One thing to note is that it's a minimum - so there may even be some "over-allowances" available if your TV is worth more and you push hard enough!  In fairness though, now is the last time your old 80's BeoVision will be worth anything!

Although the press campaign doesn't start for another 10 days, i am told your dealer will honour the deal with immediate effect if you ask him nicely. Also remember that it's a minimum of £500, so if you have something like an Avant DVD they may be able to offer more than normal to clinch that deal - try them!

    You heard it here first!

I've no idea where they are going to put all those ME6000's, LX2500's, LX5500's, 6802's and the like!

Maybe they just bought a new piece of land somewhere outside Winnersh, and it needs filling in before they can build a new Head Office on it?

    LaughingLaughing

Still - nice to see them offering "deals". In the present climate i think it's a wise decision personally.

Sounds great! Can you just clarify, is that £500 off the purchase of a new TV?

It must be 500£ if you buy a new one at your dealer.

Otherwise there is no doubt that they will do even worse in the next quater of the year:-)

    Andy T.

One would assume so unless they have completely lost thier danish marbles.. However, it's not such a daft move, as I suspect the average purchaser of a new bno tv is, stastically, unlikley to have a 15 year old crt lying about the place.

And those who do still have such golden oldies do so because either, they love them and wouldn't change for all this modern rubbish, or,  because they can't afford or chose not to purchase a new bno set.

For those who think bno t.v.'s are overpriced. Or should that be extraordinarily overpriced, a mere £500 will not I suspect tip the balance.

All that said, it's a great headline grabbing campaign, so hats off to the bno marketing dept.

Or am I being too cynical?

It would be  shame if this meant loads of classic old B&O TVs with plenty of life left in them ended up in landfill because of this!

An LX is a much better buy than a low-end LCD and at a fraction of the price!

A similar deal will be offered in Scandinavia, but only if you buy the BeoVision 8 during the summer campaign.

A rather unoriginal marketing ploy, copied from Bose! Dealers are obliged to dispose of your old tv by law since last year anyway, they all get sent to China to be turned into i.pods!(the telly's that is,not the Dealers!)

Of course it's more dignified than giving a discount off the new set, which would set a precident!!

So if you are in the market for a new TV it would be worth buying an old one on Ebay just to part ex.

The "rule" is simply a working B&O TV (with a working remote) is worth a minimum of £500 against any new Beovision TV ( BV8 26 excluded)

Its a one for one offer, so if you have two old MX TV's, or an MX and and LE, or whatever, you can get £500 per TV against two replacements.

Not sure why some see this as either cynical or not a good deal.

If you own an old ME or LS / LX / LE from the early 80's ( and there are many, many who still do ) you can upgrade to a Bvis 8 32, or Bvis 7, get the LCD equivalent in size & quality, and in effect, you would have had the use of a free TV - a very good, market leading, highly reliable one at that -  for the last 15/20 years or more.

So not really like Bose.......Stick out tongue

Don't they already have a similar current program for trading in Pentas towards beolab 5's or 9's?  I remember seeing a sign about it last time I was at a dealer.

    Re: £500 for an LE6000 ??!!

When i was in California last month i popped into the Rancho Mirage dealership and saw an offer for 6000 and 8000's with a minimum px i felt was a little on the low side to be honest.

I think the TV campaign is a great idea as the older CRT's are all but worthless now, and £500 is a crazy allowance for an old 80's/90's television. It's a different way of chopping prices and rewarding present B&O customers for their loyalty. I like it - positive thinking.
