just bought one of these but cant seem to get it off standby. . will not play cd or even star radio the display flashed  _ _ . _ _ than the dashes disppear leaving the standby light, can anyone help?

Is this a pre-owned Beosound 1 ?

nope its brand new out of the box, ive got two , the other one flashes Pr in then 0000, this one was doin the same thing but when i entered numbers it came up with Err

Well, in that case it seems that both units have their pin code protection activated.

The use of a PIN code means that if your BeoSound 1 is disconnected from the mains for more than 30 minutes, the system can only be activated again by keying in your own personal PIN code. If the PIN code is not entered, the BeoSound 1 automatically switches to standby after 3 minutes. If a wrong PIN code is entered, you get five attempts to key in the code, after which the system is switched off and cannot be switched on for 3 hours.

thanks, i will  get on to my local dealer in morning as the didn't give me the pin for either system
