    BeoCenter 2 steel version

Is there anybody who knows the difference between the steel and the aluminium version of the BeoCenter 2 ?

It's impossible to see the difference in the pictures and i never saw the 2 side by side.

I'm planning to buy this unit but i would like to know the difference.

Is it just a question of color (the steel version is darker than the alu for instance...) ?

    Thanks Peter.

And i've searched on the forum and some say that the wheel has got a "titanium" color (darker than the alu) and maybe the border too.

On top of that, it's now the MKII version with the acoustic feedback and the new software.

Very cool, i want one !!

Has anyone seen the steel version?  I was thinking of trading in my MKI version of Beocenter 2 for the new version without DVD.  I am hoping Beovision 7 will be released with a Blu-ray player later this year.

    Steph,

The darker color if it has a titanium look would be very cool.  I think I want one too.

    Hey Linder,

I think you can find some pics on the MediaCenter.

The BC2 "Audio only" version has the "titanium" wheel.

We can see it very well on the pictures.

With a pair of black BeoLab 3, it's very cool !!

The floor stand is amazing, too !

I am not sure if I would want to do this. The head unit for both the audio and the DVD versions are the same, it is only the socket unit that differs. I think I would be frustrated if at a later date I wanted to use the DVD and couldn't because the socket unit was essentially disabled.

If the audio unit had an uprated CD drive that could, for instance, play SACD , then I would have considered it.

    Dear All:

I will echo Peter's comment--The 'new' BC 2 audio would have been much more appealing if it were able to play SACD.

I do not understand why B&O cannot provide a player that it is able to play SACD.  The argument that it is not as popular is not viable excuse.  They made the BV 7 able to play DivX files.  How much more popular is it than SACD?

Popularity of the format, in this case, should not be a consideration.  OPPO provides a player that can play SACD and much more...

Frustrated...I should not have buy another piece of equipment to play SACD.
