    load custom stb codes

    hi,

i'm more of a technology "user" than a technology "builder", but i thought i would try my luck with a little question on this forum...

i have a non-supported set-top box (a freebox from france, if you are curious). it seems that it should be possible to capture the codes and load them into the b&o stb module.

has anyone on this forum ever tried such a thing ?

    Re: load custom stb codes

The STB controllers are loaded with tables in one of two ways depending if you have a recent Beovisions/Beosystems (Beovision 9 & Beosystem 3) or an older type of Beovision (AVANT's Beovision 3 etc)

The older STB controllers are updated by changing a plugin chip on the STB controller board in the TV.

The more recent Beovisions can have the IR codes generated by the dealer using a software package and then downloaded. Clearly the dealers software has all the B&O support boxes in the software, but if it is not supported the only thing the dealer can do is request your box be added.

Capturing the codes to be loaded is not an option.

    Regards Keith....

Here is another thought, but I have to admit it is a long shot.Embarrassed

Are these plugin chip on the older type (Avant, BV3 etc), the same as on the newer flashable tv's? And if they are, would it be possible to flash one chip, with for example an iPod-remote, and put it in an Avant/BV1/BV3?
