Red Line 45 Speakers require attention

Can anyone tell me the correct way to open a Red Line speaker?

I have a speaker inside that is loose and want to secure it into position and have tried to prize off the cover

(after removing the six screws) but I do not want to damage the edge of the case.

Any advice would be gratefully received!

There are two screws in the mounting hole at the centre of the rear of the speaker!

    Correction!

There are 3............one in the mounting hole and one in each hole for the band tensioners.

Sorry to mislead you. Just corrected my memory bank from the service manual!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi Graham,

No problem - I got the back off fine only to find that the foam around the plate has disintegrated!

Suppose it doesn't make much difference to the sound.

    Thanks again for your help.

    Regards,

Martin, we have a member that can refoam the ABR's for you, I am just about to send a set away myself. His name on the forum is Dillen. It may be worth sending him a PM to see how much.

So you think B&O put one of these in every speaker just to fill out a hole or ?  Laughing

It makes a world of difference, believe me. What you have now is a very open bass reflex system, not balanced or calibrated to anything but the barometric pressure rather than a well-balanced pressure chamber system with a superbly calibrated passive bass radiator.

Hi Dillen, thanks for the post.  Can you refoam these and if so how do I go about it?
