i'm hoping someone has a suggested cause  and cure for my TV problem

The screen on my BV 6-22 recently started to flicker and was very dim. The problem went away when you turned off and then back on. But now (as of Christmas Eve) the flicker problem stays. It happens on all channels, with DVD or video. I've ruled out powerpoint issues too. Its a terrible time to happen as its holiday season (and cricket season!) and our service centre is off-line until January 7!!!. Any thoughts anyone?
