All MCP's use the same plastic screen cover?

    Hey guys,

I just picked up a white 6500 MCP, but the corner of the clear plastic screen cover is cracked.  I'm looking for a cheap or broken MCP to sacrifice for the screen cover and wanted to make sure all MCPs use the same screen cover.  I figured 5500-7000 would, but I wasn't sure about the 5000.

     Thanks!

Not sure! The service manual for the BM5000 is on site and includes an exploded diagram of the MCP5000. Looking at the service manual of the 6500, it does look a bit different.

Thanks Peter.  You have the MCP 6500 service manual?  If so would you be able to upload it or email it to me?

Already there! Part of the Beomaster 6500 manual.

Re: All MCP's use the same plastic screen cover?

Studying the MCP 6500 and 5500 I have in front of me there are 4 differences (well 5 if you include the 6 v 5 number on the front)

    Black v Grey-green background

    Shiny v Matt aluminimum finish

Stronger and longer hinges v short ones

    Shiny magnet v black magnet

There does not appear to be any difference in the screen covers - but I am not taking them apart to verify this.

Sadly I no longer have a MCP 5000 to compare them to, but my recollection is that they are similar mouldings and cases - the button size and wheel being the obvious differnce.

Finally my MCP 7000 (aka Beolink 7000!)Smile has so many differences that I can't begin to list them!

Thanks guys.  I'm going to try to find a mcp 5500 since they seem to be the cheapest (and since I'm not sure whether the 5000 screen cover is the same).  I'll be removing just the top clear plastic portion covering the screen so, the rest of the finish doesn't matter.
