HELP! ML/MCL Converter and Beosystem 2300

    Hello All,

I am hoping someone may be of assistance with my setup. I recently purchased an ML/MCL converter (new from B & O) to go with my Beosystem 2300 to my ML link system which is powering 2 pairs of passive speakers. My Beocentre 9000 was previously my main system and ran the ML fine. I have installed the Converter and connected via Powerlink and connected the ML speaker cables but cannot get the speakers in the link rooms to work. The ML eye red light does not remain on as it does when connected to the BC9000. I have checked all cabling everything seems to be fine. When I try to operate the ML from the link room it does seem to receive the signal (there is a clicking sound) but it does not fire up the speakers. Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance

    Mark

I'm not absolutely sure what components you have but for sure the Powerlink cable from the 2300 to the converter must be a Mk2 or often called fully wired cable.

If that's no help then please clarify what you have with type numbers.

    Regards Graham

I am not sure, that I understand you correctly, but have you connected both powerlink, masterlink and a beolink eye to the MCL/ML.

If so, you must remove one or two connections.

Connect powerlink only, if you want the ML/MCL to work as a amp. that is always on, when the main system is on.

Connect masterlink and a beolink eye, if you want local control in a link room.

    Hope this helps.

If you are using the ML/MCL converter to power an existing MCL network. Make sure you have the MCL speaker plugs the right way round. If you have the Left in the Right and visa versa the MCL network will not work.

Re: HELP! ML/MCL Converter and Beosystem 2300

Thanks everbody for your help. I am swapping the MCL/ML coverter for another unit and hope that will solve the problem. The Powerlink cable is Mark II as I purchased at the same time as the converter and I has powered everything down to re-set but this did not help. I checked all the cabling and made sure the left and right cables were correctIy placed. I am told by B & O it should work out of the box so will try replacement with all your suggestions in mind. Thanks and happy Xmas from Downunder.

    Graham,

Thanks for your suggestion. It turned out to be a faulty Powerlink cable giving me the grief with my setup.
