    Re: Fun Photo Quiz

I would say BS9000 too. It is not the edge of a BV7 or BC6, because the distance between aluminum an glass is not as large.

Well - we can keep it alive.

How is this related to B&O?

That chair is related to a music system, a vintage one. I don't remember the name, but I do remember it was part of Peter's first Quiz here on the new site.

    Re: Fun Photo Quiz

You're on the right track, but there's a fun back story.

B&O was strongly criticized by several industrial designers, including Poul Henningsen (creator of PH lamps). He claimed that the company was making hypertraditional wooden cabinets without an eye to the age it was in.

The founders took this to heart, and gave their designers a remit to update B&O (this was in the 30s). They took inspiration from Marcel Breuer's chairs.
Mr. Breuer took inspiration from a chance visit to a bicycle factory, where he saw the machines that bent tube to be used in the frame of bicycles. He correctly assumed he could bend tubes to be used in furniture.

So in a way this radio/record player is connected to bicycles and angry industrial designers. The Hyperbo 5 RG was too expensive, but it did make a statement. If you find one at a flea market or in an attic, just buy it! The last one auctioned went for €400.000.

It struck me at the moment I saw the chair.

Really love the design of the RG, though is seem a bit clumsy when you see one in the flesh. (Trip to Struer).

What shocked me is the size of the thing!  You could live in it.. Geeked

The one in Struer is a replica apparently - is this true?

That's whatI was told when I visited. There were very few made, and even fewer that have survived. I believe the one that went on auction was red? Have only seen a photo, but seem to remember that colour.

    Re: Fun Photo Quiz

Initially, I thought it was also a BS9000, but one of the 12 spring-loaded CD clamper pairs along the inside edge of the aluminum plate, but then I recalled the aluminum plate is curved like the CDs themselves... now, I'm at a loss... let me think a bit more..

Love B&O, but no longer addicted.

    Re: Fun Photo Quiz

Would love to be proved wrong but it is believed that only one
single Hypérbo 5RG Steel exists today (apart from any number of replicas).
As far as I know, it can be seen in an industrial museum in Oslo, Norway.

Judgeing on the brushed alu and the gray-ness of the plastic, I would say MPC5500
