    new audio product 2008

    Just heard some news about the new audio product 2008 :

     * It will have a hard drive and you can store all you cd´s and listening to internet radio

    * There will be a control unit with a big  display with touchscreen

    * It has a control wheel like beocenter 2. When you turn the wheel all you cd albums will turn in the display and the one you chose

      will get bigger.

    * Cd covers will be showing. It gets the album info from the internet.

    * It is connectet to you computer and will automatic update the music library.

     

    It will cost 5000 - 6000 euro

    Dear All:

    It sounds as though no SACD yet.  It would be nice if B&O fans could natively play SACDs.  Ripping cds to a hard drive is ok but space is never enough.  However, it sounds as though we may be able to connect to a server housing uncompressed music library.  

    Oh well.

    I can't see SACD making it now. I am sure the DVD formats will replace this.

    You are probably right on the DVD formats replacing SACD.  There is an announce standard for 3" Blu-ray CDs.  There is probably the same for HD DVD.  One would think that the format competition would be finished by now.

    I am curious how many cds it is capable of storing. I guess we will get more info next year.
