    Problem with the BG6006

I have got my eye on a BG 6006. This item has a problem that the arm with the pick-up don 't always goes down on the record for playing when it is pressed to play. What could this be? How can this be fixed?

Sorry if my lanuage is bad today, I didn't seem to find my english brain today .

    Hey Sveifors,

Ignoring the possiblity of simply a sticky hinge at the end of the pickup arm, or an iffy control servo, have you considered that it may be a dirty or disfunctional "laser eye"? I believe the whole point of these was to prevent the stylus being lowered onto a bare platter, and if it is playing up I would probably expect symptoms like those you are describing...

And by the way, your English is infinitely better than my Norwegian.

One of the common faults in these decks is the solenoid . The fail safe position for a solenoid is with the arm up. If the arm traverses, stops and doesn't lower, and there is no relatively loud click, it could be the solenoid.
