BeoLab 3500 as a TV speaker

    Hi all,

Has enybody had an experience with using a beolab3500 in a beovision 4 setup?

My problem is that the BeoLab 7-1 proutes 260mm from the wall and the 3500 a mere 100mm from the wall.

I realise there will be a loss of bass (option beolab 2), but is there any other issues I should consider?

    Thanks and kind regards

Beolab 4000 either side of the screen would do the job!

A number of potential technical issues aside, I too think you are better off with 4000s. I have and like the 3500, but it is a bit anemic for your desired purpose.

I thought the BL3500 is a link speaker so I don't think it can just be used as a center. I do recall though that there is a company in Europe that can modify it for that purposes.

The latest BL3500 does have a powerlink I understand, but that was only for the wireless link I think.

I too have heard something similar to what JK has just mentioned. Although the BL3500 is one of my favourite speakers ever for its design, the sound is not very impressive, and considering the centre speaker is usually the most used speaker in a setup which includes external speakers (i.e, not a TV-attached speaker), I would recommend 2 BL4000s sitting next to one another just below the screen on the wall.

I have to agree with other responses, whilst the Beolab 3500 is a very good product, the Beolab 4000's would be much more suitable for your requirement.

    Regards Keith....

I agree with david, BeoLab 4000's side by side is a much better option or BL3's. Both can be mounted high or low and close or wide apart, then using the pivoting mounts you can aim the path of sound dirrectly to the centre sitting point. I even think that it's a better option than BL7-1, that's if you take looks also into acount.

Actully I do not like the look of the BL4000 couple under the plasma at all. I would probably buy a flat drawer unit and then but the BL7 with table stand onto that right under the screen.

Pretty much like B&O is doing that. I find the BL7 quite nice in that picture and can not imagine at all wallmounting it.

Thanks for all of your repies.

I am not a big fan of the 4000's put together under a screen, I always have a feeling of afterthought when I see this configeration.

I will have to go down to my dealer (what a bummer!Party!!!) and audition the 3500's. I am still convinced that the design of the speaker, (very B&O, It's lifespan say's it all), fit's my application, the 3500's have got to sound better than pioneer, panny and the like tv speakers. I will update as and when.

I am quite suprised that B&O have not developed the 3500's, they would look great as an outdoor speaker, in the middle of 2 patio heaters (I'm from England)
