BeoWorld and Bang & Olufsen!
Great news, and a step forward for BeoWorld and it's members!!
On
October 1st, in Berlin - Lee, as a representative of BeoWorld and it's
members has been cordially invited to attend the official launch of a brand new
Bang & Olufsen product. We have been politely asked not to name
which product, and will respect the wishes of B&O - but it won't
take a genius to figure out what the next new launch will be!
It
really is another step forward in building a good relationship with
Bang & Olufsen, especially after the fantastic Struer trip - and
it's really great to know that B&O as a company respect and value
the people that truly want the very best for them - us!
I
am sure Lee will give a detailed account of the launch, and in the
meantime i am sure we all feel proud to know that Bang & Olufsen as
a company value us as a collective. It is a testament to the
dedication of both the moderating team and the members that contribute
to the site that BeoWorld is going from strength to strength.
We
all owe ourselves yet another pat on the back, and a thank you to Bang
& Olufsen for treating us with the respect we feel we have earned
as loyal followers and supporters of the brand. It is again down to
the members of BeoWorld that we are moving forward yet again!

Re: BeoWorld and Bang & Olufsen!
I am sorry for this piece of criticism, guys, but I think you are inverting the customer relationship principles with such statements. We are not on the B&O payroll and not the B&O suppliers - we are the clients of this company. It is certainly not us who should "feel proud" of the B&O's recognition of our existence but it should be the other way round and B&O should feel proud that such a great dedicated forum ever exists. I don't think I should thank B&O "for treating me with respect" as this is a very basic expectation I have as a customer. Personally, I would appreciate other more value-adding signs of recognition from B&O than an invitation to a sales pitch, e.g. an explicit participation of a B&O representative in this forum. This would really demonstrate that B&O cares about our opinions.

Of course we're not on any B&O payroll, and never will be.
Your basic expectation as a customer to be treated with respect is a perfectly acceptable request, and one that you should always find is satiated at your B&O dealership where you are spending hard cash. This is a person to person business transaction.
I'm sure if BeoWorld didn't exist, Bang & Olufsen wouldn't go bust - and i doubt even our combined purchases would make a dent in the worldwide balance sheet. I'm sure B&O realise (in the main, Wednesday nights excepted - LOL) that our opinions are sensible ones, our views are impartial even though we love the brand, and we conduct ourselves and our discussions well.
There are all kinds of possibilities for the future, and there are some very bright and dynamic people moving up the ranks at B&O. These people believe that our opinions count, and are keen to listen to them. Why do you think we're invited to a launch with the worlds leading journalists?
I also think you are forgetting the Struer trip too, into which a hell of a lot of planning went by B&O. We met heads of department across the whole company and were treated with real respect. Each person we spoke to was genuinely delighted to meet such informed and enthusiastic people who shared a passion about the brand too, and after all that - what did B&O ask for in return? Nothing.
I wouldn't be so negative about this - it's a genuine invite to have a look at a brand new product on the very first day it's launched so that we can be amongst the first people in the world to see it unveiled. I think that is showing us all at BeoWorld that the company respects our views and what we think.

Maybe we should delete any derogatory threads about said "mystery" product in case they cancel your invite

Wow That would be fantastic to attend, i wish i lived in Europe! Very heart-warming to read this, what a special relationship we see unfolding here between a company and it's dedicated customers. Lee, WELL SAID. I can just imagine the great feeling the team at Struer get, to know that their ideas and their hard work is recognised, appreciated and even idolised by such a community of people and their customers.

Compliment to all the beoworld team and those how are on the forum. beodim: ten year ago there was no medium like the internet where "fans" all over the world can share there "hobbys"and criticism as open as now. I think this is a beginning of a interactive manor to speak to consumer/hobbist and producer B&O don't forget that until the '80's produkts where made a you had almost no choice ore influence gr eric

Re: BeoWorld and Bang & Olufsen!
Fantastic news! Yes, I think we should all be proud to be part of Beoworld and that B&O recognise us and respect our opinions. I can't think of a better ambasador for Beoworld than Lee. As most of you know, I have met Lee on a couple of occasions and I can assure you that a more honest and tactfull emmissary would be hard to find. Good lad Lee. I am pretty sure that B&O constantly monitor this site, and all our positive and negative thoughts are taken on board. I am sure they may even smile on Wednesday evenings We are a great bunch of people and, as we number over 3000 we are bound to be quite diverse yet we all seem to rub along nicely. A big thankyou to B&O for inviting Lee to Berlin A big thankyou to Lee and the mods for helping us cement a good relationship with B&O And a big thankyou to all my fellow Beoworlders who make this site what it is, THE BEST! Congrats. to BeoWorld, Lee and others! This site just keeps getting better and better, and as soon as there's a pair of BeoLab 5s or an Advanced Sound System (car supplied) in the prize draw, it'll be perfect!

Re: BeoWorld and Bang & Olufsen!
Well done to Lee and Beoworld! It's nice to know that B&O think enough of the site to invite a representative to a new product launch (having said that they must also recognise that the product "whatever it is" will recieve immediate free publicity\review\advertising on what is, after all, the number one supporting forum and therefore will be seen and read by the highest possible number of potential customers). Still, this would have happened anyway, regardless of the invite. The invite gives an element of "maufacturers support" to the site and for that the moderators, members and contributors (maybe with the exception of the Wednesday brigade) and especially Lee should feel rightfully proud.
