    Beosound 4000 and N. Music?

    Hi all,

Apologies if this is a question I should already know the answer to, but I have been away from B & O for a while now. I just received my Beoport Box yesterday and I tried it out first with a Beosound 4000 (larger CD Clamper version) which is located in the bedroom (the computer is closer to the bedroom)... I made all the connections, etc... Added N.Music to the Beo4, and pressed it (no response from iTunes on my G5 (with BM Link installed). But the Beosound 4000's display showed "A.TAPE2"

Freaking out thinking the Beoport I got was busted, I got out the 60ft masterlink cable and connected it to my Beosound 9000 in the living room, and viola! It worked great!

I can only surmise 2 things:

    (1) The shorter ML cable I used was bad (I should have tried it with the longer cable, but we had guests coming and I couldn't be fiddling around with B & O or the wife would get mad!)

or (2) The Beosound 4000 software needs to be updated to accomodate N. Music... I wish I was at home right now so I could get the SW number for all of you reading.

Again, it's a Beosound 4000 with the larger clamper (newer version), it has Beolab 2500's connected to it. When I was testing the Beoport Box, I had no speakers connected to the box itself.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

The Beosound 4000 is not compatible with Beoport.

The only one that support it are Beosound 3000 (with sw update) and 3200.

    See: http://www.bang-olufsen.com/page.asp?id=149#516_42925

Depending on your setup there there seem to be ways around this limitation and with some quirks.

    Have you got a Beovision?

Nope, sold my Avant earlier this year. It's cool, I really don't "need" the 4000 connected to the computer... it's mainly the 9000, and that works flawlessly!

    Thanks for your help!

I would be keen on the workaround though.

Is the BS4000 connected to the BS9000?

You may be able if the BS4000 can be set in option 6 (link room) to listen to N.MUSIC from the BS4000 as well.

Time to dig up my ML distributor box! LOL (Need to find another shorter ML cable too!)

    Thanks,

I would verify if it works as expected before digging holes in the wall...
