masterlink picture quality
My aerial freeview picture on BC6-26 seems much better than the master link feed from my sky HD box with the BV7-40. I seem to see the occassional fuzzy lines on the picture. Is this normal? thanks Vince

Re: masterlink picture quality
Vince, Do you have a B&O RF amplifier fitted to the RF output on your Beovision 7 ?

Re: masterlink picture quality
Had similar problems with fuzzy lines or blinking lines myself. By adjusting the LINK frequency, the lines disappeared. Probably disturbance from something, since changing frequency solved the problem. I had to try different frequencies until I found a compromise between no disturbing lines and good picture-quality. Re: masterlink picture quality
It could be interference as Morton has suggested, but it could also be that the incorrect input has been used on the RF Link Amplifier. It has two inputs. For each input you can adjust the attenuation with little switches, see HERE for further details.

Re: masterlink picture quality
thanks v much keith-the amplifier was attached at the back of the BV7 by my experienced installer so i never touched or even seen the switches but would you expect picture quality better on freeview than on masterlink anyway? I only noticed this after one month of installation-because the red snooker balls are not as bright red on masterlink! Would this interference be also dependent on the sky box and the quality of aerial as well? thanks Vince

Re: masterlink picture quality
Vince, When you are talking about "Masterlink" in your situation you are actually talking about an RF (Modulated signal) over a coax cable. However your Freeview box is connected via a SCART cable using RGB directly to the Beovision. If you are not getting sharp clear pictures on your link Beovision it is more than likely an issue with the installation of the link RF coax cable or connections with the RF Amplifier. Correct cable impedance matching and cable quality are so important, even sharp bends in the coax cable can effect picture quality. Did the installer also fit the RF cable etc ?

Re: masterlink picture quality
sorry-keith a little confused, not very tech orientated. The freeview is actually built in module in BC6. What is 'an RF (Modulated signal) over a coax cable'.? thanks

Re: masterlink picture quality
Vince, It does not matter if your Beocentre 6 has the DVB-T built-in as you have or it is via a local STB connected to the SCART, my point remains the same. Let me explain in more detail:- - First and foremost the Masterlink cable itself does NOT carry any picture information whatsoever, it only has audio and control signals.
- The signal from your Sky HD box on your master Beovision when selected on a "Link" TV such as your Beocentre 6 is NOT HD because it is an "Analogue" signal sent down a standard coax cable. The RF Link Amplifer was introduced to ensure you got the very best possible picture on the "Link" TV, but it is "Standard Definition" only, but good standard definition.
So, when you are watching Sky HD on your Beovision 6 via the link, the quality should be very good, but it will certainly be different to the picture from your Freeview (DVB-T) in the Beovision 6.

Re: rf link picture quality
Scott, Yes, the RF Link distribution output is "Analogue" and at present B&O does not provide an HD solution on link TV's other than have a STB directly connected to the HD ready Link Beovision.
