    Masterlink -> RJ45

    Hi guys!

    I wonder if anyone here has made a masterlink -> rj45 cable here. I have the tool for making rj45-contacts and I have a few old masterlink cables that I would like to cut in halv and put a rj45-connector on. Is it that simple or what should I do?

    I can buy new cables that alreade are masterlink-rj45 but they are about 50 dollars each and I need four or five, since I already have cables I cant just go out and buy cables for 250 dollars when I could probably make them of old junk for free :).

    Re: Masterlink -> RJ45

    Thank you Ralf,

    I have been reading a bit and I also have the "Cat7/Class F New Installation Concept New infrastructure Handbook" from B&O. I just wanted to know if anyone had done this themselves out of old cables.

    It seems a bit hard so I´ll probably end up buying the cables instead. Another thing, people are sayint that it only works on Cat7, I would say this is not true. I live in a house with a lexcom-system and it supports Beolink. I checked the cables for about an hour ago and it is the same cables that are used in beonet officiall cat7 solution as in lexcom that is only cat6.

    :)

    Re: Masterlink -> RJ45

    I did it myself using old cables - it can be done, so give it a try. Even with mcl2 cabling (old for the beomasters and beocenters). Now I use the lexcom cables, just looks much nicer and no possible source for errors... Best regards Ralf

    Aha! Good to know! Which colour do you have on your lexcom-cables? Hard to hide the connector itself.

    Did you use shielded RJ45-connectors? I think that is necessary but I don't have the type specified in B&Os guide, but I do have a few shielded standard connectors. And many more unshielded.

    Re: Masterlink -> RJ45

    I just took some patch-cables and cut them in half, attached one end to half a masterlink cable with connector.

    Did't sort of look like this (MCL Cabling but quite the same for Masterlink - just be aware, one wire is not used):

    Good luck!

    Thank you for the pictures! Interesting to see that you did not need to use the shield as ground or anything. I will try this myself but I'll probably try to put the RJ45 connector directly on the ML-cable but we'll see :) Thanks again!
