    Earset 2 Stopped working

My Earset 2 has ceased to charge (no light comes on the charge station) which probably points to dead battery.

Anyone have an idea where I can source one ?

Also anyone by chance have a copy of the service manual ?

I have emailed you - there is no service manual - if there is a fault, it is recommended that the dealer replace the unit!

Dropped it into the B&O Service an they said it is ok but the battery is dead.

(also there is no s/w update for it true?)

There is software 3.18 - if used with an iPhone 3G, the battery goes flat quickly - the software update fixes that. The Eraset 2 does not work with later iPhones and there is no software fix. One can tell B&O wished they had never bothered!

great but how do I know on which software I am on ?

I currently use it with iPhone 4 and the battery performance was great (until it died) and the compatibility was greatly enhanced. Overall I had no issues with iPhone 4 compatibility. Can you state some issues as a reference so I can see if I experience them.

The information I have merely says that the Earset 2 will not work with the iPhone 3GS due to varying types of Bluetooth. The 3G caused the battery to run down very quickly which the new software fixed. No more info I am afraid. Your dealer should know all this already and has the software to update the Earset.

I have used an Earset 2 with my 3gs for a couple of years with no issues at all.  Voice dialing, last number redial by holding the button down etc, all works exactly as it should.

    Does this?

Well I have a different experience. I bought mine in January of 2007 and last week the battery died. Completely, the charge light still shows green during charging but the indicator light will not come on when the arm is swung out. B&O claims that it is too bad but there is nothing they can do!

Since this cost almost $400.00 in Jan 2007 it lasted less then 4 years and is now an anchor!

Anyone want one? After 4 emails to the factory and 2 calls to store managers I am just out of luck, and almost $400.00!

And yes, I had short battery life problems when it was new and they upgraded the firmware so that is not the problem.

    This is their last message:

"We are sorry that you are not satisfied with our answer.

We must say that we are not able to help you from here.
If a dealer believes that there is no fairness for repair free of charge, we cannot do more from here.

A $400 device lasted for almost five (not less than four) years? That's less than $7 per month for the time that you have used it. Far more expensive products (like mobile phones themselves) become useless in less time than that.

It probably has a Li-Ion battery. They usually die or become very weak about four years after manufacture, regardless of being used or not. That's the way that technology is, it's not related to who made the battery or the device that uses it.

You obviously don't agree, but it would never even occur to me to expect anybody else would pay anything for the repair of a 4-5 year old small gadget - especially for the replacement of a consumable part like the battery. I suppose they have offered to replace the battery for something less than the $400?

Ran into similar issues but sourced a battery for 10$ and all is back to normal.

No issues with iPhone 4 or Iphone 4S
