    Beocord 5000 4716 help

Hey everyone, I found a Beocord 5000 4716 today at a flea market for $30, and I figured even if it was completely broken the price was too good to pass up.  I plugged in the unit before I bought it, and everything seemed to be working.  Now I'm home and I'm only having one little problem, and I was wondering if anyone here could maybe help or point in the right direction in terms of fixing it?  When I plug it in and turn it on, everything works fine.  Everything lights up, and all the moving parts seem to be doing what they should be.  When I press play without a tape in, the sprockets spin, and the belt moves without any issue.  However as soon as I put a tape in, when I hit play nothing happens.  There's a clicking sound, the sprockets look like they're about to start spinning, nothing moves and then "stop" lights up.  When a tape is in fast forward and rewind work, but past that, nothing.  I get a hiss in my headphones so at least I think sound will come out once I get things going.  Any ideas, tips or tricks?  I've tried it with both blank and filled cassettes and nothing.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I've found a number of schematics for the 5000, but no actual users guide or owners manual.  If anyone has one that they could email or upload here I would be thrilled.  Thanks again everyone.

This is possibly the most complex piece of B&O you can find! It is also the only B&O cassette deck with a true B&O mechanism. My old dealer used to repair all my old equipment but he drew the line at the Beocord 5000 as he said simply opening it always revealed more faults. The service and user manuals are on side - the user manual is a work of art - and are available to silver and gold members. If you are not an experienced repairer, I would strongly counsel against starting here! It is however very beautiful. I have one but it has a nasty habit of destroying tapes so it is now a static display model!

I found a manual online, it's about 11 pages and very minimal and straightforward.  It has some diagrams of the machine with all of the buttons color coded, and the table of contents reads "1.  Brief Operating Instructions, 2.  Plan View, 3.  More About Operation, 4.  Dolby Noise Reduction, 5.  Setting Up and Connections, 6.  Maintenance, 7.  Technical Data"  Is this the manual you're talking about?

That is the user manual - the service manual is obviously very technical and has circuit diagrams and some maintenance instructions. It has instructions for disassembly, though these are somewhat optimistic!
