    Beolab 1 not working

i am back again with the problem of Beolab1; i powered my speakers connected to BC9500 while one of the speakers played the other played for a fraction of second and returned back to the standby mode.

i repeated again only to see that the green light would blip for a second and then back to stand-by mode. i inspected if the switches are ok and not on "line" . swaped the power link cable with the working one and established that the cables are not a fault.

back in nov 2009 i replaced the chasis when i bought from a previous owner (the problem was the same). it costed me £200.

can somebody suggest what could be the problem. would it be the chasis again -- if yes should i take it up to the dealer who serviced it earlier. it was very sparingly used only during weekends.

    cheers

It might be the tweeter. If the electrical value of the tweeter has changed, the speaker will switch off. I have seen this problem more!

hi, the problem indeed was with the tweeter which did not show any impedence. the other one correctly read 6ohms.  swapped it and it worked. the question i now have is :

should i get the tweeter replaced with a new one

get it opened up and try with a professional on re-winding -- how risky is this??

on the aside while the cones were exposed i found the plastic components of B&o to be very ordinary in terms of the finish. i am told that their plastic moulds are very brittle and one need to extra careful while fixing the screws back.

one of the screws while unwinding actually broke with the head seperated from the thread?!

    cheers
