New York City Penta owners wanted

Hello Folks:  before I go investing in more b and o speakers. I was wondering if anyone in the city has pentas.  If so, would you be willing to have me hear them before I take the plunge?  I'd be using them with a beomaster 5500, beogram 1700 and 5000, and matching beocord.  Has anyone used this amp with high end modern speakers like the vienna acousics beethoven concert grands or any other modern passive towers?  how do you folk feel about mixing vintage and new?

Not from NYC but I can confirm that Penta's do sound very nice indeed with a well-sorted 5500 amplifier!

Sorry I can't be of any more help!

thanks.  when you say well-sorted, what do you mean?  Do you think that working amps need periodic servicing?  is there somethings in solid state engineering that needs replaced after several years?

I just mean that they are old now and many have a few niggles - For instance cutting out at high volumes when driving more powerful speakers (eg Penta's) if the caps are tired.

I'm no electronics engineer so somebody else will be able to advise you better but as long as yours is fine you should be OK! I am just a bit of a pedant and like my older equipment to be periodically maintained/serviced!
