Hi all, I have just picked up a Beocenter 9500 and am considering a Beolink 7000,.... are they a good match?

Secondly, i know there were US models that were early and late... and i think the later ones had "RDS" whatever that means so you could see the radio station being tuned...yes??

If so, would this tuning feature work with a Beocenter 9500??????

Any Pro's and Con's would be appreciated...

I bought my original 9500 simply so I could have a Beolink 7000 - it was before the 7000 system came out. Works very well. The RDS feature does not work but is not very useful anyway. It doesn't do everything a Beomaster 7000 does but goes very well with it.

I believe the Beolink 5000 was the recommended remote for the BC9500 & still available new from B&O.

What kind of functions can the Beolink 7000 control on the BC 9500??  Open doors cassette and CD?? others???

Only programming & usual remote functions etc.....

The doors will open automatically if the media (CD/tape) isn't present on selection via ANY compatible remote controlller - BL1000, 5000, 7000 or Beo4. 

Personally I would opt for the BL5000 for your system. The 7000 is indeed the coolest remote controller ever but not really designed for every day use as it is quite big and cumbersome. The BL5000 combines the best of both worlds in that it will give you all the programming facilities you need and is excellent for daily use as it is the the same dimensions as the Beo4 although not quite as bullet proof so will need to be handled with more care.

Whereas I would say go for the 7000! Not the controller to use all the time - a Beolink 1000 is best - but the programming facilities are much better than the 5000 and far easier to use. You don't need the manual as it is nice and easy to use unlike the 5000, which I never got the hang of ! It can also double as a useful bedside alarm clock in a link system!

I would also go the 7000 line. Display etc are much nicer (than 5000) and you do not have to turn the device back and forth to push and find the buttons. BL7000 does not have any! BL 5000 tends to be a little fragile, LCD display typically loses characters in time. Well, build is not too bad- ours is 17 years old and still working. With both 5000 and 7000 you can enjoy about the two-way capability of the 9500 debated in another thread.

BL1000 is a robust workhorse for everyday use, especially in the same room as the main device. This way you also avoid most of the fingerprints on your beautiful device.

Oh I agree with that Peter - I was simply making the point that the BL7000 isn't really ideal for every day use and would require the addition of a BL1000 whereas the 5000 would combine both.

The 5000 is not as easy to use for programming as the 7000.
