    iRobot Roomba Vacuums

I was wondering if anybody had any experience using the Roombas with B and O items? I was thinking about getting one but am concerned about damage to the frets on the Beolab 9s or scratching of the bases on Beovision 7 and 10, Beolab 4000 stands, etc.

    Thanks

I have one of these. It works really well, you can even control them with a Beo5!!

The only thing they do not like is cables, they get tangled into them. I haven't noticed any damage on Beovision stand, or any other furniture. I do not have Beolab 9 though.

The Roombas are delivered with a virtual wall you can use to protect these items if you want.

We also have a Roomba for about 2 years now. My BL6000 haven´t suffered from it so far. The Roomba is a very nice device and working really properly. The only problem that you have with it are "things" that are lying on the floor. A manual vacuum you can put them aside during your work. With Roomba you have to "clean up" the flat in advance...

We have a Roomba but because of having different thickness rugs etc find that it doesn't work too well. It does have to gently bump into things to change direction and sometimes will repeatedly keep turning towards and bumping into a  wall or object.

In reality the Roomba is just a carpet sweeper: almost no suction and the brushes need to be regularly dismantled and cleaned. The reservoir for dust etc is tiny. They are not an alternative to a full size vacuum cleaner but can supplement the regular vacuum cleaner in flat floored rooms where they can go under furniture that might be difficult to access with the full sized cleaner.

On further thinking........... the Roomba bumps more gently into objects than SWMBO does with the Dyson. If I had floor level frets I'd be happier with the Roomba!

Thanks for the input. I just ordered the 770. Am very eager to see how it performs.

Another good feature of Roomba is that it can keep a group of engineers entertained for hours, much like a large format pen plotter! Laughing

Not very durable, though - we had one in the office (which admittedly is quite messy...) years ago and gave up after the third one broke. I would expect these new models to be improved at the weak points, though.

And yes, they would work best if there was nothing but hard floor. Furniture feet don't matter as long as the Roomba can get under there, but it will easily get stuck in anything rolling around on the floor.
