Beomaster 4400 - slowly developing issues!

    Hey All,

My Beomaster 4400 is slowly developing issues.

Firstly, the volume fader is a little uneven around the 3-4 mark (jumps up and down by a considerable amount). Secondly, I'm hearing 'rumble' when firing up the amp, and it's taking longer and longer every time I power it up for the rumble to disappear.

I haven't used it for a couple of weeks now as I'm worried it'll blow and take out my speakers.

Ultimately, I'd like to send it to a proper engineer to give it a going over. I'm based in Cardiff, and running on a student budget (!!) so just wondering what sort of prices I'd be looking at for the right person to give it a re-cap and some TLC where necessary to fix the developing issues.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Alex

Sounds like a recap as a minimum.
I'm in Denmark and your Beomaster is welcome here but I take it you would
    prefer someone geographically nearer.

Well obviously I trust your advice greatly Dillen, thanks for the reply. I was thinking a re-cap would be in order anyway just for the sonics.

What sort of cost would I be looking at for a set of good-quality caps for the 4400 (not including labour).

Anybody from the UK want to chip in?

A good set of Nichicon caps, such as the 'Muse" variety, are easy to come by online and only cost about $30 including shipping.

However, if the problem lies in the power caps, you may be looking at $10-20 each!

I'm sure Martin has a cap set standing by! Wink
