    beomaster 6500 hums

    Hello to everybody,

    I am a proud owner of a beosystem 6500.

Unfortunately the beomaster started to hum. It comes from the right back of the enclosure. I suppose it is the power supply, but I am not sure.

It is not that loud, but especially in the evening at time it is quite outside a can hear that noise in the whole living-room.

There is no difference, if the master is turned on or off,or if anything is connected. (also if every wire is disconnected.)

The system is working fine,no other things I complain.

Does anyone know, what it might be and how I can solve this problem?

It will be the transformer. The original option would be to replace the transformer but these will not be easy to source. Check it is seated properly in the case. If you are able to decouple the BM from its surroundings, this can help. I use a couple of rubber supports underneath my BM4400 which hums. The noise is amplified by the wooden cabinet and the rubber seems to prevent this. Some people use squash balls cut in half under each corner.

Thank you for your fast reply; I did as you told me.

I used some thick felt and attached it below the BM's feet. Also, there is no more other syste component standing on the BM.

But the result is not really satisfying.

How can I reseat the transformer in the BM? I suppose to get the service manual in order to open the enclosure. (difficult)
    And then?

The manual is actually on site. I think all the Beomasters in this range use the same transformer so an otherwise non operative model could be your answer.

I have downloaded the service manual. Is there anything to consider when I reseat the transformer?

    2) Would you mind to upload the following missing service manuals:

    BeoGram CD 6500
    BeoCord 6500

    Thank you!
