I intend to connect a new iPod Classic 160Gb to a B&O receiver. As the iPod internal DAC is poor, I am going to use a docking station that by-passes the iPod internal DAC and that sends a digital signal to an external DAC.

Two models seem to do that quite well in terms of sound quality: the Wadia 170 iTransport (or its successor 171 iTransport) and the Onkyo ND-S1.

Does anyone have experience with these ones? Which one would you recommend?

I understand that the iPod screen/navigation wheel may not be functional when docked?
