Beovox 2500 'Cubes' - any predictions?

Anyone like to predict how high these will go?:

I think it's going to be cheaper to get mine restored by Classic Audio.

Me thinks you maybe right!.  It is definitely cheaper getting mine restored by Frede!.

Are they really worth that much though?

Well to put it another way, I once saw a mint pair sell for £1,200Surprise

These look in just as good condition - just noticed the DIN plugs have been butchered off which seems strange as the sellers other items include some matching BV5000's. You'd assume they were bought to be used with them.

It's odd I think.  He says they look unused but on the last picture there is signs of damage to the edges of the cubes.  And as you say, the DIN plugs have been butchered.  It doesn't add up especially with the matching Beovox 5000's.  If they have been used with alternative speakers, they could well be blown.  The cubes in the picture at the top of the listing (which is a stock photo and not the items on sale) are a bit misleading.  A '0' feedback bidder too seems to be bumping up the price.

Hello Dave. Good old trick to raise the prices with 0 feedback potential buyers. Cubes are really nice to see but not more than that unless you use them with the Beolab 5000 system. Actually I spotted a pair of Bevoxes 5000 from this system over ebay UK. I also have an unfinished project to repair mine but it's the hardest task to find the drives. If these are damaged, IT IS A PROBLEM!!!!! No replacement easily found.

    Best regards

    Hi Spiros,

fortunately I just bought 2 cube tweeters from Chris on eBay.  I already had 3 from another seller in Germany.  I'm hoping that should be enough for Frede to do the restoration of my cubes - I don't know how many of the tweeters need replacing as I've never used them!.  I'm looking forward to Frede restoring my Beolab and Beomaster 5000's.  I'm also buying some Beovox 5000's from him to complete the system.  I'll be driving to Struer to collect them and hope to write a thread on the full process.

I see you put the Beolink 7000 on eBay.

    Best regards,

    Dave.

Keep me informed as I'm trying to locate the drives for mine. All 12 of them were destroyed but the outer is in excellent condition apart from some minor scratches on the corners. I think this is quite common. Beolink is now on eBay. Let's see what it brings!!!!!!!!!!!!!

£310 to final £371 in last ten seconds. If the condition is good I reckon someone got a bargain.......... the original boxes will also start to take on their own value as they always do for early/ rare items.

I'm not sure how much of a bargain they will be - DIN plugs cut so have probably been connected to an inappropriate source and tweeters could be blown.  The tweeters are very difficult to find in working order.  Cosmetically they are flawed too.  I don't suppose a fellow Beoworld member has bought them and could report back?

And also if a member bought the pair of the Beovoxes 5000?!? I think the price sold was very good!

I doubt the cut Din plugs mean a lot - you have to take them off if you want to change the outlet from the bass. If you want to completely hide the wire, you cannot avoid doing this. They look like a bargain - sort of! Big Smile

Re: Beovox 2500 'Cubes' - any predictions?

i will admit to the 2500 cubes but not the 5000s! I will not see them for at least another two weeks as I am in France. I am wondering can I meter them to see what is working? I do not (yet) have a system to plug them into.

The 2500s arrieved to day! They are in  good condition all over. If you examine them very carefully I can see someone did try and jemmy one of the metal grills of at some point. They are type 6211 serie 04 and came with their original b and o box. The seller found the original receipt and sent it to me. Its dated 20/1/68 from Millwards , Salop st, Wolverhampton for £45. All I need now is something to plug them into!!

Keep us updated.  I'm interested to see if they work OK or not.  Sounds good so far though and those pesky grills do fall off every now and again.

Re: Beovox 2500 'Cubes' - any predictions?

Hi Dave, is there any tests I can do with these short of dismantling them and testing each part? My long term plan is to get a beolab 5000, have to start somewhere!

    Hi Eddie,

I'm not techie minded and suggest you contact Martin (Dillen) or Chris (medogsfat) to see what they suggest for a test.  I think one of the problems with these is that people assume they are just any old speaker and plug them into something too powerful and blow them to pieces.

There is a Beolab 5000 on eBay at the moment:
