    Beosystem 6500 complete

Somebody somewhere on one of the forums asked for pics of RL 140, that triggered my still somehow functioning kind of brain.

I came to think of my good friend Valde, some years ago he had some white B&O standing in a corner in his apartment, on later visits I didnt see it, but 2 days ago I asked him where it went and what it was.

Gentlemen may I present a Beomaster 6500 White, a Beocord 6500 White, a Beogram CD 6500 White, a Beogram 6500 White, remote console White, and my dear Sirs 2 pieces Red Line 140 WHITE.

It was delivered to me today for checking and maybe repair.

    Here the arrival pics

I told him to pack better, but

    Speakers

    Stands

    BEAUTIFUL

The other Speaker is just like this one, now I will connect the speaker to an Amp to see and I hope hear something.

Reports of all units will follow.

    Very nice indeedCool

Never seen white line RL140's before. The bass drivers are likely to need refoaming so have fun with all the screws holding the cabinets togetherBig Smile

    Chris.

No problem I like screwing around.

I was checking the speakers, with an old Radio Shack amp, I do not get to much bass and in one speaker dirty highs.

I did put one speaker on the stand, its pointed to the floor, and I do not find any ajustment to point it upward, photo below.

I took of the plastic wrap from the BG, and what did I find,Surprise on the cantilever an MMC 2, no transport securityIck! platter wobling, but I'm a tuff guy, I did'nt get nerveus, but I did stop every forther moove, vent to my bar and mixed a strong Rum and coke, after a smoke and half the drink I very carefully disengaged the cartridge from the cantilever, shouted to my family to stay put and very slow went through my house, considering every step, and put the cartridge on my old BG 2404, Haendels Firework music Ouverture, La paix: Largo alla Siciliana, HA I'm going to buy an SMMC 2 for myself, my old MMC 4 is going to be used for lesser black magic. It came out just beautiful from my BLs 8000.

Now take a look at the stand and tell me something

Tomorrow I'm goanna unpack the rest, try to get the BG open and if posible check if it can play as beautiful as my BG 2404

    Re: Beosystem 6500 complete

Tilt angle adjustment is done by a screw. It is a standard metric (cannot remember what size) Phillips screw which should be in the bottom threaded hole of the plate around the hole in the back of the speaker where the stand bracket fits. I think there are 4 of these holes to place this screw & will depend on the orientation you choose as to which hole to use. Pretty simple stuff really but it works.

Gorgeous white rl140s, thats the first pair ive seen thanks for the pictures,

Chris is right about the screw at the back, if you havnt got the originals you want a way of adding a rubber stopper to the end of the screw where it sits against the stand to stop vibration

Are you going to recover them in white fabric?

Søren, you're not helping. There are three white components available where I live, and I'm doing my best to convince myself that I do not need them now. (No CD.)

Congratulations - and agreed, I can understand why seeing the MMC2 on the tonearm was a shocker. I take it the tonearm wasn't even secured? Big Smile

And platterclatter during transport is always fun.

    Re: Beosystem 6500 complete

As I woke up at 0500 this morning, I have been checking the manuals and have to atmid that things can get complicated, missing screws and strange steel and metal pieces I can handle without problems, surface repairs, dismanteling and mecanical ajustment also no problem, but when it comes to PCBs, chips and things where I have to guess the function, it will be a problem, I have lately followed Die Bogener and Dillens very good threads and I hope I have learned a little, at least I think I've learned what not to do, and to ask before doing something I'm not sure about. I have been repairing printing m/cs in more than 50 countries throughout the world and I'm used to failure finding, which sometimes is time consuming and kind of detective work, but I'm here in a kind of work where I have little knowledge and experience.

I like this its something newBig Smile

    Well the plan:

    1. Make a good working space to test all Units.

    2. Provide 220 V near point 1.

    3. Before connecting the units, open them to check for visible damage, make photos

    4. Start with the BG, that one I can connect to my BS 3000.

    5. Buy flowers for my wife, and get Valde to find documentation for the Items and maybe the original reciept and where he bought it.

Should I start another thread in another forum or stay here until I maybe start repairing ?

I would start a thread in the workbench section as these threads tend to drift off the page fairly quickly in the general section.
