    Not B&O - Marantz :o

Someone has given me a Marantz 1060 amp for free, still in its original packing and box. Can't say I like the look of it but I took it anyway.

I see its from about 1975. Does anyone have any info? Is it any good? Worth keeping at all?

    Thanks

    Ben

I'm not familiar with that particular model, but in those days Marantz was highly respected, and not wrongly so.

Give it a try, and search the web - it may welll be quite collectable by now and in any case well worth using... although it won't blend too well in a B&O household Stick out tongue

... beauty is, as always, in the eye of the beholder ...

    ... to the facts:

    - "Classical" US-American style of the 60's & 70's
    - 17" aluminium front panel
    - designed in US / built in Japan
    - 2 x 30W @ 4 and 8 ohm
    - build in phonostage
    - extra feature is an additional tone control for midrange
    - wooden cabinet was available as an extra (made it looking much more precious)

Price in the 70's approx USD 300
Price today (on eBay) USD 50 to 300+ (depending on condition)

Could be a nice partner for efficient speakers e.g. B&O RL140/RL7000

Could be used as "Phono Preamp" (and Smile being hidden)

Thanks for all the information Vienna! Mine has the wood finish and is totally mint, looks like it has never been used ever. Had been in a storage unit for many, many years. Hmmmm...maybe it should go off to Ebay!

Don't mistake the "wood finish" (actually beeing plastic "veneer" on the metal housing)
    for beeing a wood case/cabinet.

Yes I did notice that the wood was a very fake pastic coating over the metal cover. I suppose from far it is fairly convincing..or should I say...nice from far but far from nice!! lol
