Recently inherited a Beocentre 4000,  tape 2 (record/play) plays beautifully but tape 1 sounds very muffled with little to no treble.  Any ideas on what this could be and where to get replacement part.

First try cleaning the tapehead(s).

Simple things first - have you cleaned the heads? Interesting machine this though it is actually Japanese so parts are not as easy to obtain as most B&O. It ccould be that the azimuth needs adjusting - you will need the service manual and some knowledge!

Hello,  wow quick reply,  yes i have cleaned the heads with cotton wool buds and some tape cleaner solution.
