Is it possible to coneect to this system the more recent plasma or lcd.

The unit does not have the HDMI out or input. Hoever, seems to have VGA - so can we use a HDMI/VGA converter to connect to a HDMI TV

Will this converter take away the quality?

Hoping to get a used one and connect to my Panasonic Vierra 50 inch Plasma. Is it worth while to do this or get the upgraded BS2 or 3

I use my BS1 for audio switching only.  I have the VGA out connected to my TV (it has a VGA input but I can't imagine the converter would be a problem) for menu access only.  The BS1 only has one hi-def input so you will be very limited there.  It is a very good albeit big audio switcher.  The BS2 is not an upgrade and you won't find it in the USA.  The BS3 is 12 times the cost of a used BS1.  Your choice.

Don't forget that you can use the zektor switch for your multiple HD signal switching and still route everything through the BS1. Although I upgraded to the BS3 in my main room I still have the BS1 based Avant and Zektor working hard upstairs for play room with no issues. I have even heard an "expert" say the BS1 is superior in it's sound quality due the type of circuitry used.
