Can I use MM cartridge with 8000 receiver?

    Dear all!

I've got some question about the Phono connections in 8000 receiver.

    1. Can I use MM cartridge, eg Audio Technica AT150 with the 8000's phono?

    2. In this document, I've not ever found the mV with phono module, how is it?

    Thank you for your reply!

It should work fine, but will be a bit louder than with a B&O cartridge.

The user manual of BM8000 specifies the phono sensitivity as 0.18 mV - 0.4 mV / 47 kohm.

    Thank you very much!

May you re-define the word "louder" to me for clarification?

I've used both of Beogram 4400 and MicroSeiki 411 with AT 150 cartridge, the only problem is AT cartridge caused the sound like "brm brm" but just low volume I can hear, if the volume was 3.0, it (the brm sound) disappeared. Coud the MM cartridge caused problem to the receiver?

There should be no problem at all - B&O cartridges are Moving magnet (actually moving iron but that is splitting hairs!) and as Mika says, have a very slightly lower output but the same frequency curve as most moving magnets. Ortofon use the same system in some of their cartridges. I suspect the noise will be the cartridge, not the amplifier - check your ground though.

    ... check your ground though

This is very very important point. I just check the mass cable, it was cut internal, I replaced the other, and the sound was very good now.

    Thank you so much!
