Hi folks.
I have read a huge amount of positive information about the BL2 and what it adds to a surround sound/film experience. I am thinking about adding a sub to my set-up (BL8000s front, BL4000s rear) and was wondering if anyone had any negative comment about the BL2 and whether they had bought one and found that it added too much 'boom and bang' and was too overpowering.
I met one guy recently who had bought one and ended up upsetting the neighbours so much that he had to soundproof his walls...
Any comments appreciated - thanks.

Re: Beolab 2 - any regrets?
I'd be curious about this too. The new BL 11 just looks too anemic for me and seems more like a woofer than a subwoofer. Also, I don't care for the appearance that much of the BL11 but that's my personal taste.

Re: Beolab 2 - any regrets?
I do have BL8000 and BL4000 + BL2.
I'll have them until forever.
No regrets here. :)
I find BL2 a needed piece of my setup, and you may control with sufficient degree the loudness and impact of his basses on the overall audio experience, just try your best feeling.

Re: Beolab 2 - any regrets?
Superb when used in a surround system. I use mine with Pentas and 4000s. I don't like it with music alone but I don't really use this system for that except at low volumes where it has less effect. Adds more to a system than having rears in my opinion. I will be interested to see what the 11 is like but it seems to be designed to add what is missing in the BV10 as much as anything.

Re: Beolab 2 - any regrets?
One of my favorite purchases... and I only use it for music. I'm not a bass-aholic. Hate boomy bass. With proper positioning and settings (I spent ~30 minutes on this), it adds (imho) a natural, seamless low end extension to the BL8000s.
Then again, please heed the advice above about listening to it in your own home if possible. Everybody's ears are different.

Re: Beolab 2 - any regrets?
The BeoLab 2 works great for me. I have no plans for getting rid of it or replacing it with a BL-11. I am curious to hear a BL-11 and will maybe consider purchasing one for a secondary room sound system later. The look of both subs is nice, but the BL-2 is no doubt a heavier-duty device for larger rooms.
BeoVision 7-55 3D, BeoSound 9000, BeoSound 8, BeoLab 7-6, BeoLab Penta III, BeoLab 8000, BeoLab 6000, BeoLab 2, LC-1, BeoTime (analog clock), Form 1 headphones, Beo 4 remote.

Re: Beolab 2 - any regrets?
I have the BL2 in conjunction with BL3 for music. No regrets at all.
Only word of advice I have is, do a demo with your components - maybe in home if you can. You will note differences in sound from TV to TV used .....
BS9000, BS2300, BC2, BL2500, BL3, Bl2, BS1, BV8, BC4, A8

Re: Beolab 2 - any regrets?
This is all really interesting stuff folks, thank you. I think I will ask for a demo in my living room (which is not palatial, and I do have neighbours..) to feel the force of the sonic volcano. I have to say that 99% of the comment is positive, so I guess I should really not waste time analysing the 1% of negative/indifferent feedback.
Happy listening.

I am expecting BL11 to be a much better performer than it is expected...

Re: Beolab 2 - any regrets?
I had Beolab 8000 as fronts and Beolab 6000 as backs before, and a BL2 is almost a MUST! Just that now I've upgraded to BL9 and the BL9 have a strong woofer component so I've sold mine.
Not only you get much stronger and definitive bass, the fact that the subwoofer is doing all that work frees up your BL8000 too. You'll hear the sound coming out of your BL8000 a little crisper.
The only downside is as everybody knows the BL2 is a tid-bit slow. Sometimes the rumble at very low frequencies is a little too much especially for fast beat music. But for movies, it'll blow everything away.
Definitely get a demo if you can and I'm sure you won't want to return it to the dealer once you've heard it. :)

No, there's been plenty of negativity, too. That's one reason why they've created the BL11.
I sold my BL2 after a year. Used it for music and found it didn't seem to keep up. Particularly fast dance music. Moved it to my TV setup, with my BL9s and found it didn't add much value *apart* from key explosions where it would really rock the room and, as you say, disturb neighbours.
I disconnected it for ages, then decided to use it to trade up to BL5s (which were later sold for other reasons!).

I think I am going to get the neighbours involved with this purchase and see if they give the thumbs up!

Re: Beolab 2 - any regrets?
I have also an Avant, BL8000 and BL4000 + BL2. The subwoofer does a GREAT job IMHO.
