    STB-C installation Avant

    Hi,

I have an Avant 32 VCR without Set top box controller.

I was at my b&o dealer today and they told me that it is posible to instal that module. I know what i need and it is posible to fix. I just do not know if i can do it by my self.

    1. I am asking for pictures and instalation instructions of the module.

    2. How do i change the software chip for the television? If it is the old software in the television i need to change that module to.

    Best regards

    Hampus

On the subject of the STB-C, I had mine installed in my Beovision 3 by a dealer. If at some time in the future I want to update it, does the chip plug in or is some soldering required? Is it a DIY job?

As shown in the picture, this is a plug in chip..

Provided you use the normal "Static" protection with wriststrap and grounded mat, then it can be done quite quickly. No soldering is required.

    Re: STB-C installation Avant

    Thanks Keith, much obliged.

Now for my next questions! My current STB-C controls my Sky+ box. Do newer chips permit control of the new Freesat boxes (Humax for example).

If so, how much is the chip?

    Thanks.

The price seems to largely depend on the relationship you have with your dealer.  Last time I purchased one, I paid £15 ... but I have heard of people paying £45 and upwards ...

Also if you don't have a decent chip removal tool (not just a PC memory one!) you can easily break the side of the chip socket that will then render the board unusable...........

Don't ask me how I found this out with a 32" Avant motherboard............ :-(
