    Beomedia 1

Beomedia 1 seems to be a bargain at the moment and I'm thinking of getting one but I have a few questions regarding Beomedia 1 - I've looked at the manuals but though it better to ask:

    1) I am going to use it with an Avant that currently has a DVD1 and Sky box connected - the other socket is for the in built VCR so do I need an AV Expander so that I can get V.Aux or V.Tape 2? I tried to set the variant to without a VCR and gain an extra socket but the options are limited - i.e V.Tape

    2) Can it import my iTunes library and playlists which are recorded in Apple Lossless

    3) Can I have the display on the screens of the other TV's linked by Masterlink - how do I do this is it n.music?, n.radio or V.Aux?

    4) How easy is it to use? and upload to?

    5) Could I use it to import my LP collection?

    6) Can you watch/store movies on it?

    7) How fast is it to boot up - what I mean is, does it come up instantly or is there a delay as it's essentially PC based?

Currently I use an iPod connected to a BS3000 which is one of the last ones so will be able to support it (I hope)

Any thoughts or feedback greatfully received.

I do not think the Avant supports the AV expander.

Yes you can import iTunes, No, it won't read Apple Lossless, you'd have to convert it before. i am not sure Beomedia 1 can read any lossless format.

    4) How easy is it to use? and upload to?

    Yes.

    ajames:
    5) Could I use it to import my LP collection?

You'd have to convert them to files and load them into iTunes before.

    ajames:

It is not designed for that. Some have managed by entering into the system and adding some extra codecs. You may have problem with full resolution video.

    ajames:
    7) How fast is it to boot up

It does not boot, but wakes up from sleep. So it is acceptable.

You should be able to check a software version.

if you are using it through the TV, the audiomaster does not need to be compatible. When you use it with N.MUSIC or N.RADIO, then you do need a compatible audiomaster.

There are rumours of an iPod dock coming this year.
