    Beovision 4-42 Screen Replacement

    Hi beoworlders

I have just received a beovison 4-42 (hd version) plus beosystem 2 III (from ebay) and the screen has been cracked during delivery. The screen now does not work an emits bright light from one corner when it is on. The Beosystem 2 seams fine.

Can i replace the screen/panel and fit the old bv4 b&o bezel over the top and hook it up to the beosystem 2 MKIII?

Does this have to be a panasonic plasma panel or can i use another one? I am based in Australia and just need a 42" screen that would work in this manner that i can get hold of easily and don't want to hunt down rare old models if possible.

Grateful for any help and advise offered!!

Stick with the Pana panels, I have experienced various issues with screens from other manufacturers - take the cracked screen out of the B&O BV4 case and simply replace the screen and hook up, you might need an rs232 gender changer.

    Re: Beovision 4-42 Screen Replacement

Thanks for the response KoS. So does that mean that even a later Panasonic 42" plasma like the Viera would work?E.g. http://panasonic.com.au/products/details.cfm?objectID=5333

Then all i would need is the rs232 gender changer?

I am concerned about software compatibility issues and that the beosystem 2 can 'talk' to these newer panels.

Grateful if you can give me the name of the latest pana plasma panel you have successfully trialed with the bs2. That way i would know it should work and i wouldn't have to hunt for a much older model.

    Thanks!!
