    The search for MS150.2

    Hi All,

After finally deciding to treat myself to a BG8002 its now on its way to me via Martin after a little check up …Smile

So now that’s settled, my attention has turned to searching for my next little 'upgrade'... I'm starting this search early as I figure its gonna take a while to find the right ones...

When I purchased my first vintage system about a year and half ago I had considered the BM8000 / MS150 combo but had decided against it as my then home was too small to do them justice .... however, what became apparent when I moved about a year ago was the S80.2 I decided to get, are for my liking too small (I know some will think I’m mad) ….  my new much larger and taller living room.

So what am I looking for? A pair of MS150.2, and yes I would like the .2 as I understand that they have the aluminium strip on the rear which will match my current S80.2 which will become secondary speakers…

Externally I want them in great condition … will consider however some that have drivers in need of refurbishment and crossovers that need new caps etc … and of course mint ones will be more than welcome …

Another complexity is that  given my distance in Asia, shipping is gonna be expensive at 60Kg and with their size… location may be a deciding factor… UK  (ha ha quote from Denmark on fedex online is $16K as opposed to $800 from UK) seem reasonable given shipping costs …..

Am looking to get these somewhere in the second half of the year so anyone considering letting go of some do drop me a line ….

    Look forward to any offers....

    Laurence ...

    You are certifiable!! Smile

The thought of shipping these around the world is simply unbelievable! I actually have some MS150s which I am thinking of letting go but they are the Mark 1s and therefore of less interest to you! However I would say that although these are good speakers, they are not that good! I would see what there is available in your area - $800 in shipping sounds like more than the speakers are worth.

    One million pouunds!!!! ;)

I'd be interested too if you decide to part with them Peter - do let me know if you do as I would love some original speakers to use with the rest of my Beolab 8000 system.

Seriously, shipping these would be a nightmare! There must be plenty in Sweden or Denmark which you could pick up!

It really is a nightmare shipping these. I sent a pair to a bloke in Belfast & had to pack the speakers in 2 boxes & the stands in yet another due to weight constraints. Add that I had to buy 2 huge double skinned cardboard boxes & over 100 meters of bubble wrap & the cost of shipping exceded the £150 mark and that was with a 15% discount! It also took me about 2 hours to box them up properly - not something I'll ever be doing again...

I even offered to drive them to Liverpool & hand them over at the dockside as it would have been cheaper for the buyer to get the ferry & cover my fuel costs & save me the effort of boxing them up,

    Chris.

He he... thought you might say that Peter! Embarrassed ....

Well, I guess i would have to have been mad to have started collecting this system, as unfortunately costly shipping is simply a reality for me, (my BM/S80 came from Denmark) .... because the chances of finding equipment locally is just, really very unlikely... altho I do keep my eye out for things...

Altho on a positive note I guess, is that its kept my collecting in check as I always have to carefully consider any and all purchases!

Strangely in this case the UK was the cheapest shipping option, when compared to the obvious ones, USA, Australia.. about half the price.... but this was on FedEx on line which I find tends to be quite inaccurate (the Denmark quote Surprise).. cost was actually in S$ so was about 370 pounds...

By the way what do you all think is a reasonable market rate for a pair that are mint and or in need of repair?

    So lets see....

    Laurence.
