if you become a silver or gold [including a monthly chance on a B&O product: perhaps even a new BL5000 ?]member you can get access to very many manuals including these.

Not sure the service manuals for these are available. The Beocom 6000 is not really that serviceable and is fixed by replacing PCBs which you won't be able to buy. The only service sheet I have for the Beolink 5000 is how to replace the key pad foil, which is pretty obvious! I take it you have problems with the display? This can be replaced and comes as a kit with instructions, I believe. Is there anything in particular you wish to ask?

Re: Beolink 5000 & Beocom 6000 sevice manuals?

    Peter,

the problem I am having with the BL5000 is that it won't receive "feedback" from equipment ie "no contact". I normally use the BL7000 for programming on my BS7000 and BC9500, but I have just aquired the BL5000 in a "job-lot" of other stuff!!:)

It works fine in both one-way and two-way  comms with each system for normal commands but without two-way I cannot program! There are two pots on one of the boards which I thought might adjust the comms sensitivity, anyone any idea....?

The problem with the bc 6000 is it keeps loosing the connection with the base unit, normally when you try to pick up a call........VERY FRUSTRATING!!:(

Normally I can phone out OK, but when I try to receive it either switches off or just looses the base unit.

I have had the software updated to 2.5 at B&O shop as they thought that was the problem. I thought it could be the battery but they convinced me otherwise. I have tested the base with another BC 6000 without problem. Any ideas........?:-I

Re: Beolink 5000 & Beocom 6000 sevice manuals?

    Hello Simon,

The lack of IR receive in the 5000 is an interesting problem. I have seen a couple with leaky surface mount capacitors on the small PCB which contains the IR receiver, and this caused loss of range, but not a total lack of communication. On another there was liquid damage on the IR receive PCB, and this caused total failure of the IR receiver. The two metal shielded coils with ferrite tuning slugs are used for peaking the tuned circuit of the IR receiver, and should not need adjusting at all. You need an oscilloscope to set these correctly.

The service manual for the beolink 5000 is really only a guide to disassembly and which module to replace, I don't think it contains a schematic of the remote.

With regard to your BeoCom 6000 problem, do you have more than one Beocom 6000 using the same base ? if so does the other one give any problems ?

I am assuming you have a Mark II Beocom 6000, is that true, i.e. its got a socket in the top of the phone if so.

You can buy all the component parts for a BeoCom 6000, in fact I have just repaired one.

Re: Beolink 5000 & Beocom 6000 sevice manuals?

    Hello Keith,

I only have one Beocom 6000 mkI connected to my phone line plus a Beocom 2400. Both are connected through broadband filters just as the phone line comes into the house. I plan to move the BC6000 base unit to a higher position, possibly on the phone extension to see if this helps. It is only at a height of 1200mm at the moment, although the loned one worked fine and this was a markI also.

    Any suggestions?

    Regards,

    Simon

    Simon,

I am getting mixed messages from your response, but I think I understand that you have borrowed a BeoCom 6000 and that works OK with your existing base, is that correct ?

If that is correct, then I guess you have a faulty Mark I BeoCom 6000 phone which can be repaired at modest price.

Yes you are correct Keith, I did borrow a spare BC6000 to test with my existing base.

Any suggestions where I should take the phone for repair? My local B&O shop or a specialist....?

    Simon,

Well, your local B&O store will certainly repair it for you at their standard price. If you are willing to repair it yourself, we can talk about what you need to do it. You could also upgrade it to a Mark 2 as part of the process for a low cost.

Re: Beolink 5000 & Beocom 6000 sevice manuals?

    Simon,

You will NOT need a soldering iron because all the components are surface mounted.

The problem you have is caused by a fault on the board in the phone, however the Mark I boards are no longer available, but you can purchase a kit for about £40 which will fix your problem and also make your Mark I phone into a Mark II phone except you will not have the headset socket.

If you are happy to spend about £40 on this kit which is not a formal upgrade kit, then you should order it from your B&O dealer using part number 3455103

I will subsequently post detailed instructions on the conversion process as no instructions are provided with the kit.

Let me know if you wish to proceed

    Regards Keith....

    Keith,

I seem to remember reading somewhere that the mark2 BC6000 has a different charging voltage. Will this effect my BC using the new board? I will still be using the original charger!

What other changes will using this board make in operating the BC?

    Many thanks,

    Simon

Re: Beolink 5000 & Beocom 6000 sevice manuals?

    Simon,

You are correct about reading that the Mark II BeoCom 6000 has a different charging voltage, but in fact that statement was incorrect.

The charging voltage for both Mark I and Mark II is 5.5 volts. After the modification is completed you will ONLY be able to put your upgraded Mark I BeoCom handset in a Mark I charger.

When you receive your kit it will contain the following items:-

Ø       A new front cover which is exactly the same as the Mark II cover (P/N 3455033) except it has the two round Mark I power connectors at the bottom and does NOT have a socket for the Earsat headphones.

Ø       One black plastic mult-conductive feed for connections from front panel to circuit board

Ø       One white plastic mult-conductive feed for connections from front panel to circuit board

    Ø       One replacement main PCB (P/N 8095162)

Ø       One replacement display to allow for lowercase characters

After conversion the phone will work 100% the same as a Mark II phone EXCEPT you can only use it with a Mark I charger and there is no socket for an Earsat headphone

    Regards Keith....

    Hello,

just had another thought on the BL5000 2-way problem. When I press the STATUS button on the BL5000 it correctly gives the source information even though I haven't used it to select the source! Does this mean it IS receiving some 2-way comms? I am slightly confused! Any suggestions why it will do this but all other 2-way comms brings "no contact"??

Keith, On a separate issue, Do you know if the front panel with the keyboard is available? (Beocom 6000)
If so, would you have a price and a part number?

    Andy,

do you mean the plastic case and rubber keys for the BC6000 or do you mean the PCB behind the case? I recently updated my BC6000 with a new case and rubber keys for about £25.00 £16.00 including fitting!Smile

Re: Beolink 5000 & Beocom 6000 sevice manuals?

This is exactly what I mean though I wouldn't describe the buttons as rubber, more plastic.
A common fault on Beocom 6000 is the dot button failing. I know it is probably the membrane under the keys but you can't get to it without cutting glued joints and re supergluing.
£16 sounds a bit good, Was that from a dealer?
BTW, does anybody know if the aerial is encompassed within the keypad?

    Andy,

Actually, I still do have a couple of Mark I BeoCom 6000 front panels and key pads available for purchase, but if you plan to replace one, I suggest you go the whole way and upgrade it to a Mark II for not much more cost.
