My Beogram 4004 is running too slow

Hi,I'm new to the forum and here comes my first question.

Maybe someone can help me finding a problem with my Beogram 4004. I have fitted new belts and new grease and oil about 6 months ago and everything was running great until a couple of days ago when it started running slower and slower and then stopped. Do I need a new motor ? Are they still available?
I would be very grateful for some good advice.
    Regards, George

Hi George and welcome.Smile Thanks for joining as a silver member.Yes - thumbs up

In this thread, Martin mentions that  "speed setting trimmers can go bad". If you are no wiser, might I suggest sending Martin a personal message?

    Hi Andy,

    Thanks for the quick reply.

I think that's a good idea to get in touch with Martin.

Hi Andy, I have renewed both speed Pots ( even though they were still working ) and to my complete satisfaction everything is working fine again. I would like to add that the Beogram 4004 is still a great piece of engineering when sitting along side to a Linn Basik that really has no engineering in it !! And in my opinion the Beogram 4004 also sounds much better in a A/B comparison. The Beogram 4004 is a very under estimated player.

Once again thank you very much for your quick attention.

    Regards, George

Quite right! The 4004 is a lovely deck. I remember getting a shelf for oe of my Beograms from a well known Hi-Fi chain. The salesman there was an older chap and I enquired about listening to some of their better decks. he asked what I had and laughed, and told me not to bother with the ones on display as none in his opinion came close either in sound or build quality.

The 4000 is even better as it has a massive bearing and heavier platter.
