Beogram 5005 distortion on inner grooves.

The Beogram 5005 turntable that I have plays great until it gets to the last few tracks of the record and then it distorts the recording.  I have cleaned the rails and lubed and checked tonearm set up, I have also used a new record to test.  I have been told that it might be the stylus but I would like a second opinion before I spend the money on a new stylus. Any thoughts on what might be causing this?  Thank you

Years since I played records, but back in the far distant days when I was well into turntable & arm setups, bias & compensation settings were crucial for the stylus to negotiate the groove, particularly nearer the centre where the forces on the stylus change considerably. I'm not familiar with the 5005, but does it have bias/compensation adjustment?

The 5005 is tangential so there is no bias to be adjusted.

Suspect either stylus or running rails that the moving carriage slides on are not fully down in their holders and not quite running level.

Could it be that the platter is not level?  I ask this because the platter appears to sit higher on the tonearm side compared to the side opposite the tonearm.  I did not notice instructions for leveling the platter in the service guide.  Thank you
