It is a Philips type CD player - I believe you can actually get replacement assemblies but these lasers are pretty tough. What is not is the capacitors on the servo board - common fault and always diagnosed as a dead laser! Look here
I would suggest a chat to someone able in electrical repair - the service manual is on site and has the circuit diagrams.
