It seems that iTunes have problems to find covers for .wav files. Is there a third party programm which works better ?

There a few widgets who do that .....  they essentially go to amazon or google to get the art.

The wav format itself does not allow cover art I believe. However Itunes does maintain a separate database of the coverart so as long as you stay within Itunes / Ipod you should be OK.

It could be that the widget that you are using is trying to add the picture to the file not to the Itunes DB and that is why it's not working.

Actually the above is correct, I just googled it. You need to find a Widget that adds the file to the Itunes DB not to the file itself.
