Parting ways with my old B&O [:(] how to cope?

    Hi all,

It's been a tough decision, but I'm going to do it: I am going to sell the B&O stuff I don't use anymore. Among other things the good ol' beosystem 1200 and 1100 turntable that started my beovirus. I had a great time with it, spending hours getting it up to scratch (many thanks to beoworld!!) and listening to it with friends. Lots of memories cling to the machines, but I don't use 'em anymore since I have a more modern, remote controlled 3000 set. The poor old 1200 is just sitting on display catching dust. So I want someone else to use it and enjoy it the way I have done! In the end it'll be better for the both of us, but oooh, it's gonna hurt.

I bet I am not the only one with trouble like this. How do you cope with situations like this? Ever had to sell something you really didn't want to sell, or really wish you hadn't sold a certain piece of equipment? I'd love to hear some stories Smile

I never sell but give things to people I like. Then I know it has gone to a good home!

There is no way to cope really. Even if people assure me that they will look after it, I always feel they won't look after it as well as me!! Sad

I have the same problem... actually I've only ever managed to sell one piece (a Beocenter 2800). I have given some stuff I don't need to a long loan, though - with the caveat that they are not allowed to get rid of them in any other way than giving them back to me Wink

Most of the stuff I've ever bought has been broken in some way or another, and it has taken some effort and money to get them working. Somehow I don't feel right if I just pass them on then - I don't have that much to spend on a hobby... (be it money or free time, which I value very high)

In a pinch, I would stick to the items that would be very hard to find again in similar shape, or have a particularly nice story behind them.

True! I'd like to do so, but unfortunately my friends either only like the modern stuff, or are silly audiophiles that feel a B&O is not high end enough for them... besides, I'm still a student, so I can't really afford to give stuff away just yetWink

True too! that's what makes it feel real bad...Sad

Tournedos, I can really relate to what you say too. I think if possible I'd handle it just like you, but, I don't really see another option... wish I had more room for all my stuff! A nice room with all the beloved B&O and music stuff in it, and a nice couch and a fireplace and.... well I think you know what I'm getting at :)

Now at least I know I'm not aloneBig Smile

I would love to know how to cope!

Instead I found a few logical solutions to place my now 3 Beosystems somewhere in my life.

White Beosystem 6000 partly on loan to my dad. He loves it.

Beolab 8000 system in the main living room.

Beosystem 6500 in the "office" and takes care of all Beolink in the rest of the flat. Connected to AV9000 in the main living room.

This makes all my favorite B&O useable. I do have a few units that needs Dillen's touch but after that they are spare units and I got no problems in the thought of selling them. As it is now I got a Beomaster 6000, Beocord 8000, Beogram 2200 and an Attyca II as leftovers.
