    Pictures of my new System

I tried to post some pictures of my 5000 system yesterday but for some reason it didnt work. So here we go again.

As can be seen its in pretty good order. This is before I have given it a thorough going over. There is some wear to the volume numbers and a bit on the tuning dial, but I can live with that. The lights on the amp dont work at the moment but hopefully I can sort that.

    Heres the Beocord and speakers.

The Beocord has a plastic cover over the control panel to keep it nice and clean. The tweeters dont work on one speaker, hopefully I can do something about that.

And it came with a Beolit 500, which was nice.

Along with a Beogram 1000, which actually sounds very good indeed.

If you saw me at the moment you might mistake me for the Cheshire Cat! Im rather pleased with them!

Great. Congratulations! I have a lot of Beo stuff, but this one is missing...... Maybe my next purchase....?

For the lamps there are two guys who might be helpful: Frede and Martin (Dillen) from Denmark.

    Enjoy the 5000

On the number front, you have a few options. I did one of mine using Letraset - the font I used with Helvetica and it matched perfectly. There are also lots of lines that can be used for the markings. A friend of mine had the whole panel engraved which obviously will not wear but is not original. Frede is having new panels made - I have one of the first on the system he restored for me.

Having set this up, it allowed him to do the following!

Just to show you the possibilities, here is my original 5000 before I used the Letraset. You can see the typical missing numbers in the volume scale.

And this is after - I removed all the numbers, leaving just the markings , replaced the missing markings first and then put the numbers in. I don't think it was bad but I did replace it eventually with a better front plate and obviously now have the one Frede did for me.

Peter, how did you get the sliders so clean on yours. Mine are slightly yellow - is this cleanable. I do have a BM3000 which has perfect ones, is it possible to swap them over if I fancy it?

I think the 3000 is a different size but they are easy to get on and off - the whole front panel just unbolts. The slides all do seem to yellow eventually but they do vary a lot. I have had quite a few of these models so I just keep the best ones I see!

Peter, thanks for sharing... it is a wonderful, timeless system, just radiating the concept of 'quality'. Well done, wish I had room for one...
